Reading and Writing Information
Overview
|
Informational books are becoming increasingly significant in elementary classrooms. Many students enjoy reading information in a narrative form. They gain knowledge about text structure that supports student reading and writing, and at the same time they are gaining content knowledge. Reading and writing information can be as important as reading and writing stories. As a result, nonfiction trade books have been integrated across the curriculum. Teachers have included this literature in theme cycles, and they even have students writing a variety of reports, biographies, and autobiographies on their own.
